You are a more generous reader than I am. I find Linda's stories entertaining and well written; but she's created such a self contained world--a parallel Uncle universe--and her characterizations of NS and IK are well thought out and have real depth and texture, but they're not the people I see on screen; so even when reading it's like a skewed version of Uncle and I have skew a bit to get into it. It never feels quite comfortable, though I certainly appreciate their strong points.
I don't get Jane Fairfax at all. At least not what I've read on line. It could be my personal discomfort with the way she uses sex in her stories, I don't know. To me, the two people she writes about only use the names NS and IK.
I think if I were reading original fiction by them--or something they'd written in a fandom I wasn't heavily invested in, I would be able to enter whatever world they create with no difficulties--they're very good writers.
