It was - there're so few of us, and so many of us were involved. Maybe if we'd each rated them? Or each voted for our three favorites or something. Still, it was fun seeing all the different takes on it, and getting people writing is more important than who places where. :-)
We'll do something about the voting, I promise. I favour voting for three favourites ATM but I'm afraid LJ polls don't allow that. So we'll have to do some serious thinking before we start the next round.
And yes, as Flora said, we have to change the system, we are so few in this fandom, and there were so many good entries! I had lots of fun reading and seeing so many different takes on the prompt. Yay!
I've looked at other fandoms, and seen a sort of rating system used (how did the story fit the prompt, how did you personally like it, etc, rate 1 to 9) like I see here you suggested. I actually think that's a good idea, if only we are careful not to make it too extensive and serious - it would be too heavy put side by side with fun/drabbles. At least it seems like there's a positive mood for having a poll?
Yeah, I agree with you that we don't want it to get too heavy and onerous - after all, the idea is to encourage both writers and readers. But if everyone could rate their favorite three (or whatever); the weighted responses could determine a winner, plus I wouldn't personally feel so bad about not being able to, you know, acknowledge that there were at least three I thought were REALLY good. :-)
