I like this idea too (we'll see if I can be reliable)

But I'm late. Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] graculus and [livejournal.com profile] nakeisha:

Answers to day one and two are under the cut:

Day 01: How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?

Alias Smith and Jones was probably the first fandom I wrote fanfic for (I didn't know it was called that, or that other people did it). I loved Pete Duel, and I loved their partnership in the show. I was already writing original fic (it wasn't very original, or good), but I wanted their story to continue.

Day 02: Name the fandoms you've written in, and how much you've written in that fandom, and if you still write in it.

Alphabetically:
Alias Smith & Jones: A few stories and a few WIPs still floating around
Harry Potter: About a dozen stories, and a few WIPs still floating around
Man From UNCLE: About 20 stories (?) and some WIPs still floating around
Starsky & Hutch: A few stories, and a bunch of WIPs floating around
Star Trek (the original series): One actually posted and a dozen or so WIPs floating around

My muse in general has been absent but I still poke around with all these fandoms when the urge strikes.

It's terrible when your muse takes a vacation. :-( Hope she returns soon. I've really missed new stories from you.

Thanks! It really is frustrating - I think "I'd like to write something" and as soon as I sit down to do it, nothing. Then again, if I were disciplined ...

I'm not sure discipline has that much to do with it all the time. I went through about a year of sitting down to write and then coming up with just about any excuse to do something else: check another website, take the dogs out, whatever. Yet, suddenly, it all came back into focus and I was able to start writing again. Sometimes I think it's a form of burnout that time seems to heal.

I would agree. I just wish it would choose to get better during periods, like now, when I've got plenty of time!

When you were writing a lot were you writing more or less sequentially in these fandoms, or did you write in more than one at the same time? Or am I jumping the gun on future questions?

I don't think you're quite jumping the gun. :-) I started out as a kid writing in Alias Smith & Jones, then did some Man From UNCLE and Star Trek from time to time. It wasn't 'til I went online fannishly that I did any focused fanfic writing, and then it was Man From UNCLE. I joined the Harry Potter fandom later, but still wrote some UNCLE, then focused mostly on HP. After a while I eased into Starsky & Hutch while still doing HP. Now I'm equally inactive in all of them!

I've found the questions, someone else on my flist is doing this too--it's a bunch of serious questions! But interesting. You can always make it an every other day meme--that's what I'm doing with the simple silly one I'm engaged in.

I thought I would find them interesting to answer, but now I'm wondering if I'll even remember to do these every day for a month! But if you're interested in how/why people write, which I am, it's a good meme.

I'm interested in what other people have to say about it :) So I hope you remember!
