Considering the source...
A little additional research on the person who hated my story has enabled me to smile about it. 'Nuf said.

I just don't want to get mean spirited about it; I simply discovered she is a rather ... over the top person in her views, and not inclined to cut any slack to others who do what she feels justified doing. She's also probably young. The judgment of a wise and sensible person could potentially be valuable to me; the opinion of a somewhat immature and extreme person...well, I'm not so interested.
I think it's an example of something that's not restricted to any one fandom: there's always a group of extremely extreme readers/writers. Very dark fics, very odd or extreme fics, tend to be their purview, and they spit on the middle of the road stuff. It's simply a preference. I suspect that's mostly what's going on here. We see it in MFU -- a story may not be badly written, but it's so not to one's taste one hates it. :)
Kids today. Gah. What can ya do?
