30 Day Fandom Meme Day 7

Day 07 – Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?
A fic I wrote or a fic I read? When I write I’m inevitably adding my own interpretation to the canon character; that always makes me like them more than I did before (even if I already really liked them). When reading … I’ve read fic that temporarily makes me see characters differently – good writing can do that. Generally I go back to my own viewpoint after, though – my viewpoint is stronger when I’ve written the character than it is when I’ve just read them in canon.

I'm trying to think of a fic that convinced me to see a lead character in a very different way--I can't think of one. I get antsy if the characters are very far removed from my conception of them, even if well written. For secondary characters I'm willing to change my opinion given a compelling story. Now that I think of it, for a lead character I'm not heavily invested in, that would be true too.
