Day 07 – Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?
A fic I wrote or a fic I read? When I write I’m inevitably adding my own interpretation to the canon character; that always makes me like them more than I did before (even if I already really liked them). When reading … I’ve read fic that temporarily makes me see characters differently – good writing can do that. Generally I go back to my own viewpoint after, though – my viewpoint is stronger when I’ve written the character than it is when I’ve just read them in canon.

I don't get Jane Fairfax at all. At least not what I've read on line. It could be my personal discomfort with the way she uses sex in her stories, I don't know. To me, the two people she writes about only use the names NS and IK.

Well, I agree with you - but for the length of the story, I'm persuaded. :-) I'm not in general an AU fan, so it would be incorrect to say I'm a "fan" of Linda White's work, but, again, her extrapolation is well done and persuasive, and I buy it (hers, actually, I buy even after I go away - it makes complete sense to me that these guys could basically go crazy doing what they do). I don't want to be in that universe, but hell yes I buy it. :-)

Actually I agree with this completely. I can read it as an AU. I just prefer a different Uncle universe.
