...I get the Outer Limits on DVD and pop in disc 1 of season one and am watching The Sixth Finger. For those who don't know, DM plays a Welsh coalminer who wants to be smart, and Edward Mulhare zaps him. His head swells, he develops a sixth finger, telepathy and telekinesis and rather a nasty temper.
I kept wanting Napoleon to rescue him. DM does a great job in this.

Another example of absolute power corrupts absolutely. I was worried he was doomed, but he survived the experience, didn't he? (menopausal brain won't remember) I do remember watching the piano playing scenes with fascination.

Can't you imagine Napoleon walking in and looking him up and down? Line, please.

"Ah, the barber took a little too much off, didn't he?"
"Can you still shoot with that finger in the way?"
"I'm still the boss, you know."

Memory does serve you...

...better than it served me. For some reason I remembered his dying, but he is alive at the end. The episode gave me, I think, a different reaction from the one intended (though maybe it was intended) -- he wanted to go on and continue evolving, but his little girl friend wanted him back the way he was, so she reversed the process. That doesn't say much good about her, really, I've realized. He'd evolved past hatred and things like that, and wanted to continue to evolve, but she refused to allow him to change; she wanted her cave man back (relatively speaking). I wanted to smack the crap out of her. :)
