I really didn't post much to my journal over on LJ...usually weather reports when a big storm was headed my way, and some cat related stuff. So I don't think I'll be posting much here unless Section VII becomes active (other than everything being imported by Glenna) . Hopefully LJ will just leave us alone. Spike made a good point that she thinks LJ is after their 'own' people when it comes to violating the 'rules'.
Still the idea that Big Brother is watching, and that we really can't say what we think and feel over there is very disturbing and makes me uncomfortable.
So I've been moving my stories over to AO3...sigh. It's sad really, and awful for the Russian users. Inji posted a short blog against the new TOS, but doing it in a round about way.
I think 'you know who' really wants to bring back the good old days of the USSR...
OK, I think the import is working now - I'm not getting the abort message. I still don't see any posts, but I think it takes time.
I think it's wise if you want your stuff to stay out there to archive in a few big places. We all know archives can go down, but you can only do so much.
I have pretty much everything on FF.net, but am now moving a lot to AO3 because of being able to post images with the stories there. Here on DW, that's a bit problematic, and I wish they'd fix that.
I just read a notice on the Reading Page that things are running very slow to import as a lot of users are moving from Live Journal. No surprise there!
Let's face it, Big Brother has been out there a long long time. He can always watch us if he wants. The issue is when are we worth BB's time and trouble to harass or silence? As a rule, that hasn't been the case, except for that embarrassingly juvenile period when a bunch of moms freaked out that some of the fiction here had S.E.X. in it and their little darlings were reading it. I swear, do people really not remember at all what it's like to be a curious kid?
Oh yeah, BB has always been watching more intently I think since LJ became a Russian owned company. I wasn't around when the mom thing happened, thank goodness.
Kids will get into what every they want to if they want it bad enough..."D
