So here's the thing...

... some fabulously kind being in the other fandom gifted me with a year's paid LJ time. I'm overwhelmed. And embarrassed -- I don't know what to do with it. Can anyone who's swish give me some faint idea of the most obvious differences between paid and unpaid LJ? Not a tutorial, I don't want to waste people's time, just some of the most obvious "Here's what you can do that you couldn't before?"

(I've looked in the LJ FAQs and so very much of it is over my head...)

Any help much appreciated.

For one thing, you can upload 15 icons and mess with the style of your LJ. Okay, that's two things, whatever.

But what sucks is, in THIS journal I'd love that, because Nat's an icon-making fiend and I'd love to upload about 10 icons if she's willing to do them...but over there, I really like both my style and my icon already.

Thanks, though...sigh...this gift was wasted on me. I feel terrible...

But that's what's so fun - I noticed you said icon instead of icons. You can have your preferred icon, plus a heap that fits the comments you write! fun - fun - fun! And of course you can make a photo/photos your background.

You can also use an LJ email. Not sure what the name of the other account is, but if it was for this one you can set it so that people will email you at leethet @ livejournal.com and it will show up in your regular inbox. It's a nice privacy thing if you don't want the whole world to have your regular email address.

Paid accounts used to get you a whole lot of great stuff, like being on a faster server, but not so much any more.
