Everything on LJ is now in Russian. Or else I've had a stroke ...

Yeah, it looks like franciskerst's account got hacked. I've got about 2 pages worth of posts in Russian. Look like they might be ads. Are you seeing more than that?

That's what I've got too--but it seems to be only franciskerst (so far). I've put her on a filter until it gets fixed.

I saw this late last night and sent Francis some messages, so I guess she's taking care of it now.

My LJ has been hacked and turned into Russian adverts for months and I hadn't noticed until friends e-mailed me about it. It's fixed now.

By the way I have lately read again all your HP stories I could grab on line and it sent me back to the books, movies and fandom.

:-) I'm glad you're no longer Russian. Nothing against Russians, of course, except that I couldn't read it.

I was thinking about HP lately. I have this hovering WIP that I doubt will ever get finished; I'm gratified to hear rereading my stuff sparked new interest for you. I think I'm past getting reinterested in HP. That makes me sad.

Your stories are the best I've read in that fandom, by far; beautifully written, with art and style. You should be a professional writer (if you are not one already). I wish I could do half as well in my long "Pros" fic, which I have been struggling to finish for years now.

That's so kind of you, Francis! What a nice thing to say. Though I'm not a professional writer, I am a professional editor. :-) The menopause has entirely robbed me of creative ability. I keep hoping it will come back. Other writers have said that it does.

On the editorial note, what's keeping you from finishing your long fic? Having written several novels (original fic - nothing anyone wanted to buy!), I know it can be difficult sustaining a long work (longer than most fanfic).

Mostly difficulties to round up the outcome, which must have an open ending without falling flat and being disappointing to the reader. The last scene is especially hard to write for intrinsic reasons I can't explain here. Moreover I use an odd and unpopular pairing (the boss and one of his agents: Cowley and Bodie, if you know the "Professionals" fandom) which is perfectly convincing to me but seems to horrify almost everybody else. So I haven't got many encouragements (though more than I expected).

My story has been incrementally published on AO3, as a WIP. If you have any curiosity about it, this is the link : https://archiveofourown.org/works/574711.

I would be delighted to know your opinion as an editor (the more severe and uncompromising the better; my otherwise excellent beta is way too indulgent). But don't feel obliged if you are not interested. Thanks for asking anyway.

I know what you mean about the ending. This is the hardship with any long work. You must build tension constantly - without going over the top and unrealistic - and then have a climactic ending that makes sense. It's very difficult.
